757-200 Special Freighter Assembly
Boeing Airplane Services employees in the Wichita Modification Center replace a section of 757-200 fuselage with a 20-foot-by-22- foot cargo door surround structure for what is to be the first 757 passenger-to-freighter conversion ever undertaken. Boeing will provide 44 757 Special Freighters to launch customer DHL Worldwide Express. The 757SF can carry 60,000 pounds (27,210 kg) of cargo more than 2,000 nautical miles (4,630 km) with a volume payload capacity of more than 8,000 cubic feet (226.5 cubic meters).
