757-200 Special Freighter Assembly
Boeing Airplane Services employees in the Wichita Modification Center replace a section of 757-200 fuselage with a 20-foot-by-22- foot cargo door surround structure for what is to be the first 757 passenger-to-freighter conversion ever undertaken. The 142-inch-by-125-inch side door will enable the modified 757 to load and carry 60,000 pounds of cargo distances of more than 2,000 nautical miles. Boeing will provide 44 757 Special Freighters to launch customer DHL Worldwide Express.
