B-47E Stratojet
America’s first swept-wing, multiengine jet bomber was the B-47 Stratojet, and the first swept-wing fighter was the F-86 Sabre Jet. Both used new swept-wing data found in Germany after World War II and sent back to the United States by American scientists. This photograph, from 1951, was taken the first time the two flew together over Kansas.
