Inside the 377 Stratocruiser, passengers relaxed on seats that represented 100,000 hours of research and testing. Skeletal drawings supplied by the Smithsonian Institution gave engineers basic data. The engineers collected measurements of from thousands of men and women before determining the dimensions of Stratocruiser seats. They applied these standards to both the "day" seat and the "berthable" seat. The "berthable" seats folded out into a bed that was 6 feet 4 inches long and 42 inches wide.
