X-32B Completes Government Flight-Test Requirements
The Boeing X-32B Joint Strike Fighter concept-demonstrator aircraft July 1, 2001 completed all of its government-defined requirements by conducting the program's first short takeoffs at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in southern Maryland. The aircraft, which validated the Boeing approach to short-takeoff-and-vertical-landing requirements, and performed additional takeoffs at shorter runway distances as well as a number of Boeing strategic objectives.
