Rockwell XFV-12A Thrust Augmented Wing
The Rockwell XFV-12 was a prototype supersonic fighter built in 1977 for the United States Navy. The XFV-12 design attempted to combine the speed and AIM-7 missile armament of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II in a VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) fighter. The XFV-12A prototype used the nose from an A-4 Skyhawk, intakes from the F-4 Phantom II, and a thrust augmented wing concept.
