Next Generation 737-800 Testing Short Field Performance Enhancements

The first airplane to be equipped with short-field design enhancements performed flight tests at Edwards Air Force Base, CA in 2006. The refurbished 737-800 was then delivered to Brazilian low-cost carrier GOL. The design enhancements include a two-position tail skid and new Krueger flap seal actuation that enables reduced approach speeds. Sealed leading-edge slats provide increased lift during takeoff.
