10,000 Jets for Freedom, F-15E Strike Eagle Manufacturing

In the 1990s, McDonnell Douglas reached the 10,000 Jets for Freedom milestone in March 1993. This milestone signified the total of all jets built in the company's St. Louis facilities. At the time, the company was building F-15Es for the USAF and other variations of the F-15E for the Saudis and for Israel. During final assembly in St. Louis, the forward, center, and aft fuselage assemblies are joined, followed by the wing assemblies. Once the structural splice is completed, mechanical and electrical subsystems are installed and checked out.
