Woman Working at Douglas
The Department of Labor began a campaign to lure women out of the home and into the factories to help the domestic labor shortage created by WWII. By 1943 more than 50% of the workforce was made up of women who were working in factories all over the United States building ships, airplanes, and other needed products for the war effort.
