First Landing of the Dreamlifter Large Cargo Freighter
On Sept. 9, 2006, the first 747-400 Large Cargo Freighter, the Dreamlifter, completed its first flight. It was the first of of three specially modified 747-400 airplanes that were created to transport the major components of the 787 Dreamliner. Capt. Joe MacDonald, 747 chief pilot, flew the Dreamlifter for two hours, four minutes, kicking off the Dreamlifter's flight test program.
