Boeing Business Jet Takeoff

Renton, September 4, 1998 - The new Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) - a high-performance derivative of the Next-Generation 737-700 - made its successful first flight today with Boeing Capts. Mike Hewett and Mike Carriker at the controls. The airplane took off from Renton Municipal Airport in Renton, Wash., at 9:13 a.m. PDT. The BBJ has a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles and boasts an 807-square-foot cabin, nearly three times larger than existing long-range business jets. Interiors can be configured to accommodate a variety of executive and VIP layouts.
