F/A-18E Super Hornet E1 in Flight

Super Hornet E1, a single-seat model F/A-18E/F, launched with weapons attached from Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD., February 21, 1997. E1 flew with an Aero Servo Elasticity stores configuration, comprised of three 480-gallon fuel tanks, two Mk-84 bombs, two High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARM) and two Aim-9 Sidewinder Missiles. Although this flight marked the heaviest Super Hornet take-off load to date, E1 flew as effortlessly as if it were flying clean.
