Mt. Rainier from 35,000 Feet
Washington's Mount Rainier, one of the nation's most famous and most photographed mountain peaks, is a giant montage of soft curves and jagged angles when viewed from almost seven miles aloft. Snow-covered the year around, like a marshmallow topping, Rainier's cone rises 14,408 feet from sea level. The picture, taken from a 35,000-foot altitude, was made by a Boeing Aircraft Company flight test crewman aboard a Boeing B-29 Superfortress.
