Space Simulation Vacuum Chamber

The Huntington Beach site houses one of the world's only space simulators. Located near the west side of the facility in building 31, this metal, spherical structure has the ability to recreate a space environment. The simulator is 39 feet tall with a diameter of 30 feet and housed in a 28,000 square foot building with a 90-foot ceiling. The simulator can be loaded from the top by removing the cap. It has the capability of simulating 400 miles in altitude while injecting liquid nitrogen into the simulation to create the sink of cold, black space. The simulators vacuum shakers can create a force of 48,000 pounds to recreate the pressure in the outer atmosphere.
