Boeing on September 24, 2007 delivered the first production EA-18G Growler to the U.S. Navy, ahead of schedule and within budget. The delivered aircraft, dubbed G-1, was the first to be built exclusively on the existing F/A-18E/F assembly line; the two previous flight test aircraft, EA-1 and EA-2, were built as F/A-18F Super Hornets and modified after assembly. The first production aircraft joined the flight test program at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., before entering fleet service.
