The T-45A Goshawk jet trainer is at the heart of the T45TS, the U.S. Navy's first totally integrated training system for undergraduate jet flight training. As a major T45TS system, the Goshawk plays a key role in keeping training costs down. Relative to comparable trainer and operational aircraft, the T-45A has extremely low operational and support costs. High equipment reliability and designed-in maintainability fearures equate to a very low requirement for maintenance personnel and facilities, and low costs of ownership. The exceptional fatigue life and flexible avionics system ensure a service life well beyond that of any trainer currently in produciton.
