The two aircraft made aviation history on the same flight, thanks to some way-out-of-the-box thinking and a special adapter, both courtesy of Boeing engineers. The flight marked the first time in the SCA’s 33-year history that an aircraft other than a space shuttle orbiter hitched a ride on the back of the modified Boeing 747. The engineering and planning behind the special flight were more than a year in the making as NASA and Boeing worked out the details through a commercial space act agreement.BI232073 (msf10-0213-155)Maximum size:3000px × 2400px (~20 MB)10.0in × 8.0in (300dpi)License type:Rights ManagedKeywords:2010s-747-100-adults-airfields-airports-blue-blue skies-Boeing livery-brown-clouds-copy space-day-engines-exteriors-flying wings-full body views-fuselages-ground crews-ground shots-high-tech / advanced-historic production status-historic significance-landing gear doors-landing gears-large-main wheels-male-nacelles-NASA-nose gears-one of a kind aircraft-other livery-perspective lines-Phantom Ray-photos-propulsion systems-research/experimental-right front views-several/groups-Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA)-snow-St. Louis Facility-structural systems-swept wings-tails-tandem landing gears-tarmac-taxiing-testing-transports-unmanned vehicles-wheels-white-X-45C UCAVRelated Photo/Videos:View All
