North American Aviation P-51D Mustang Flight Line
The P-51D became the most widely produced variant of the Mustang. The P-51D started arriving in Europe in May 1944 and soon became the foremost USAAF fighter in the theater. A ‘bubble’ canopy was designed for improved situational awareness during combat. While retaining the P-51D designation by the USAAF, it was assigned model number NA-109 by North American.
