Inspection of GOES-P Satellite
Pictured here is GOES-P, the third in a series of three Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites that provide enhanced Earth observation and weather monitoring to NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Base, Fla., on March 4, 2010, GOES-P is built by Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems and will provide NOAA and NASA scientists with data to support weather, solar and space operations, enabling future science improvements in weather prediction and remote sensing. Additionally, GOES-P will provide data on global climate changes and capability for search and rescue.
