F/A-18 Hornet Releases SLAM
The Standoff Land Attack Missile (SLAM) was designed, developed and produced for the U.S. Navy in response to a need for an accurate, precision-strike, standoff weapon system. SLAM is a mulit-mission weapon which evolved from the Harpoon missile and is available to international customers. Although it was still undergoing operational evaluation testing during Operation Desert Storm, the weapon was successfully deployed against an Iraqi hydroelectric plant. The SLAM is produced in St. Charles, Missouri.
