F/A-18 - Harpoons on Fighter
After more than 25 years, Harpoon is still deployed as the U.S. Navy's premiere anti-ship missilefor fleetwide use, and has been ordered by 24 international customers. High survivability and kill probability are assured by Harpoon's low-level cruise trajectory, active radar guidance, counter-countermeasures, and effective warhead design. Harpoon has demonstrated overall flight reliability greater than 95 percent and has earned a 100 percent effectiveness record in combat situations: the Gulf of Sidra (1986), the Persian Gulf (1988) and Operation Desert Storm (1991).
