Boeing’s first passenger-carrying hypersonic concept could have military or commercial applications.

Hypersonic flight is flight at five times the speed of sound, or MACH 5. That's faster than supersonic, and subsonic, which is what most commercial airliners fly at currently.

The concept comes out of a joint effort of Boeing Research & Technology’s continued work to advance the viability of hypersonic flight, working with Commercial Airplanes to define requirements and technology enablers for commercial travel.
