General Aviation Assembly Line at Dundalk, Maryland

This facility in Dundalk, Maryland was home to the Fokker Aircraft Company of America, a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. It was renamed General Aviation Manufacturing Corporation in 1931 and became part of North American Aviation in 1934.

The twin engine aircraft in this photo are the YO-27 bomber prototypes produced by the General Aviation Corporation. Seven aircraft were produced at the factory in Dundalk, Maryland. The YO-27 offered the first electrically powered retractable landing gear fitted to a USAAC bomber.
