General Dwight D. Eisenhower Offers Congratulations

During a visit to Boeing Airplane Company's Wichita Division on April 25, 1948, General Dwight D. Eisenhower offered his congratulations on the selection of the name "Scout" for the Boeing XL-15 liaison plane. Tweleve of the versatile single-engine all-metal planes were produced at the Wichita Division for the U. S. Army Field Forces. Attired in full Indian dress for the occasion were Francis Stumblingbear, left, of the Kiowa tribe, and Gordon Bushyhead, of the Cherokees, both veteran Boeing employees. At the right is J. E. Schaefer, Boeing vice president and general manger of the Wichita Division.
