Both the BBJ and the BBJ 2 are equipped with Aviation Partners Blended Winglets, which were certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in September 2000. Besides giving the BBJ a sportier, more "bizjet-like" appearance, the winglets create more efficient flight characteristics for the airplane, translating into approximately 250 nautical miles (460 kilometers) of additional range with the same fuel and payload.
