Air Force Airborne Laser (ABL) Wind Tunnel
Victor Buonadonna, senior systems engineer, left, and Dea Good, systems engineer, examine exhaust ports on the underside of a 747-400F freighter model that recently underwent wind tunnel tests at Boeing in Seattle. The testing was part of the U.S. Air Force Airborne Laser (ABL) program. The ABL is being designed and developed by a Boeing-TRW-Lockheed Martin team. When completed, the ABL would mount a chemical laser aboard a modified 747-400F that would be capable of destroying Scud-type missiles during their early boost phase.
