Boeing Engineer Recognized for Designing Safety Enhancement
The Next-Generation 737's automatic over-wing exits are displayed in the open position behind Boeing Engineer Jim Hutton. On July 4, 2000, Hutton received an award from the Royal Aeronautical Society for his work leading a team that designed, built and implemented the automatic over-wing exit into the Next-Generation 737. The new door can be opened more rapidly in case of an emergency on the ground.
