BOEING'S KISSING COUSINS Two Boeing commercial jetliners and Boeing Vertol's CH-47A Chinook helicopter got together for a reunion in Germany in 1965. The U.S. Army Chinook, was making its first public demonstration in Germany. The helicopter participated in the Paris Air Show, then later returned to Germany for a series of demonstrations at U.S. Army and German Army installations. This meeting of three members of Boeing's "aircraft family" was at Lufthansa's Frankfurt maintenance base. Three hundred persons, including press, witnessed the Frankfurt demonstration during which the Chinook performed high speed vertical climbs, flybys and hovered above Boeing 707 and 727 models of Lufthansa's fleet.
