Wichita Completes Fuselage of Last Classic 737 Airplane

The forward section of the last Boeing Classic 737, a 737-400 airplane built in Wichita, KA, rests in its tooling before undergoing final treatment inpreparation for shipment to the company's Renton, WA, factory, where final assembly and delivery will take place. The venerable Classic 737 family of airplanes has been a mainstay of production in Wichita since the mid-1960s. Production of fuselages in Wichita for the 737 continues for the Next-Generation family of airplanes. The 737 lines have garnered orders for more than 4,300 airplanes, giving itthe distinction of being the best-selling commercial airplane in aviation history. The last Classic 737 was scheduled for delivery to Czech Airways in February 2000.
