747-400 Nose Section in Factory
Most of the heavy lifting in Boeing's Everett, Washington factory is done in the middle of the night. Starting at midnight, crews lift partially completed airplane sections into place for final assembly. The nose section arrives with flight deck equipment, lavatories and galleys already installed. The overhead crane, which can lift as much as 34 tons, moves the nose into place around 2 a.m.
