P-51D Mustang on Apron with WASP on Wing
A WASP stows her parachute in a new Mustang preparatory to flying it from the 6th Ferrying Group, Ferrying Division, Air Transport Command base, Long Beach, CA. WASPs of this group, who ferried more P-51s than any other type, praised the airplane's lack of operational trouble on cross-country flights. This shot was the cover of North American's Skyline magazine's September/October 1944 issue. The cover article was titled, "Angels of Avenger Field."
