737-800 Maiden Flight

On a glorious summer day in Seattle, the longest 737 ever built flew over a Seattle sports landmark as part of a three hour and five minute first flight. During its maiden flight, the 129-foot, 6-inch 737-800 performed flawlessly, according to Capt. Mike Hewett. Certification of the newest member of the Next-Generation 737 family is scheduled for February 1998 and first delivery, to German-carrier Hapag-Lloyd, in March.
