McDonnell Model 119 on Test flight April 1, 1959

The four-engine McDonnell Model 119/220 was the first business, non-airline-type jet aircraft to receive an FAA Class I provisional type certificate as airworthy in the transport category.

The Model 119 was designed to compete for a US Air Force contract, the Model 220 was marketed as a business jet.
