Two F/A-18 Hornets Fly Over Desert Landscape
Two U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18s (a two-seat D model in the foreground and a single-seat C model in the background) fly over mountains during a training exercise near Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada. As of June 1993, the F/A-18 was the frontier tactical aircraft in 22 U.S. Navy and 16 Marine Corps squadrons as well as the air forces of Canada, Austrailia, Spain and Kuwait. Finland, Switzerland and Malaysia were under contract for the Hornet at that time, and the U.S. Navy was proceeding with the development of the advanced version, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
