XB-70 Valkyrie in Flight
The XB-70A, built by North American Aviation's Los Angeles (Calif.) Division for the U.S. Air Force, was an experimental high-speed, delta-wing aircraft designed to fly at three times the speed of sound and at altitudes in excess of 70,000 feet. It was the largest Mach 3 airplane to ever fly and the first sustained Mach 3 cruise aircraft.
