C-97 Stratofreighter Cockpit
The C-97 Stratofreighter (Model 367) was the high-flying cargo and transport plane that evolved from the B-29 bomber. The pressurized Model 367s had a double-lobe fuselage consisting of two intersecting circular sections so its 74-foot-long upper deck had the larger diameter. Cargo was loaded through large clamshell doors in the belly using a built-in ramp and a hoist. In addition to five crew members, the C-97 Stratofreighter could carry 134 troops or 83 stretcher patients with four attendants.
