RB-47E Stratojet in Flight
A Boeing RB-47E Stratojet, world's fastest day-or-night long-range photo ship, is shown high above Kansas on a recent test flight out of the Wichita Division of Boeing Airpane Company. The RB-47E, sister ship to the standard B-47 medium bomber, is a specialized plane designed particularly for high and low altitude photo reconnaissance. Like the bomber version of the Stratojet, the RB-47E is capable of speeds in excess of 600 miles-an-hour and has a service ceiling of more than 40,000 feet. Both models are now in quantity production for the U.S. Air Force at the Boeing-Wichita plants.
