Retired from Boeing since 1986, Joe Sutter continues to serve as an advisor to the company. In his 90s, he can often be found in his office at Boeing Commercial Airplanes headquarters, or up at Everett for one reason or another. He is widely hailed as a preeminent senior statesman of aviation and has won many prestigious awards, including having Boeing's 40-87 building in Everett, WA renamed in his honor, the Joe Sutter Engineering Building.
