At the time of its first flight, the 737-900 was the largest and newest Boeing Next-Generation 737 jetliner ever made. It took to the skies over Washington state August 3, 2000 on its maiden flight. The 737-900, painted in red, white and blue Boeing livery, was delivered to launch customer Alaska Airlines in April 2001.
