September 26,1997 - Nearly 1,000 Boeing employees who design and build the Boeing 757-300 form the shape of the airplane -- in its actual size -- at the Boeing plant in Renton, Washington. The 757-300, which is 178 feet, 7 inches (54.5 meters) long, is the largest and longest single-aisle airplane ever built by Boeing. The airplane, a derivative of the Boeing 757-200, carries between 243 and 289 passengers. The first 757-300 is scheduled to deliver to Condor Flugdienst, a German charter airline, in January 1999.
