Little Joe Under Assembly
The Little Joe vehicle was conceived by NASA as a means to obtain flight performance data on prototype project mercury space capsules. The vehicle was required to reach specified altitudes and mach numbers to meet capsule test objectives. The missile division of North American Aviation contracted to design and fabricate Little Joe rocket boosted airframes, destruct systems, flight control systems, and a launcher.
