Boeing Proposal for U.S. Navy Broad Area Maritime Surveillance BAMS Contract

The U.S. Navy’s Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) is a UAV being developed to provide persistent, maritime surveillance and reconnaissance capability with worldwide access that will complement Boeing's P-8A Poisedon. Proposals for the program were submitted in May 2007. Boeing competed with Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin for the contract. Boeing's entry was an optionally manned Gulfstream 550 business jet that featured a 20% speed advantage and more capable payload than competing aircraft. However, on April 22, 2008, it was announced that the U.S. Navy selected another proposal for its contract.
