Boeing's 767-400ER flew for the first time on October 9, 1999. It took off from Paine Field in Everett, WA and flew west down the Strait of Juan de Fuca with Capt. Buzz Nelson, 767 Program chief pilot, and first officer Capt. John Cashman, Flight Crew Operations directorat the controls. The airplane, identified as VQ001, taxied then lifted off the runway at 12:10 p.m.
