Boeing Hornet Shuttle - Model 95 Modified for In-Flight Refueling
The Model 95 was built as a mail and cargo carrier for the Boeing Air Transport routes. It was a classic mail plane, based on the design of the Model 40A, with an open cockpit for the pilot and 89 cubic feet of cargo space. The Model 95 also incorporated the bolted aluminum construction developed for the Boeing F4B/P-12 fighters. Twenty-five Model 95s were delivered to three airlines in 1929. The same year, a Model 95 was used to test in-flight refueling of a Boeing airplane for the first time.
