The Boeing P-26A Army pursuit single seater of 1933. A total of 136 of the P-26 type pursuit planes was built for the Army Air Forces and formed the main pursuit striking force of the Air Corps during the early 30s. The first all-metal production pursuit airplanes in the Air Corps, the Boeing P-26s had a top speed of 234 mph and a service ceiling of 27,400 feet. A Wasp 550 hp engine was used. Wings and landing gear were wire-braced. Tail surfaces were of cantilever construction. A number of these airplanes was also built for the Chinese Air Force as Boeing Model 281.
