Entering the Cold Room
Large airplane parts were tested in low temperature conditions in Boeing's Cold Room. The Cold Room's temperature could be lowered to -80 degrees Fahrenheit and held indefinitely. Technicians working in the room were closely monitored by an engineer at all times through a window made from four panes of heavy glass as they tested the mechanical functioning of materials and systems in extremely low temperature conditions.
