During the 4-hour, 6-minute flight, which took the 777-300 over the Olympic Mountains, it reached a peak altitude of 17,000 feet. This flight marked the beginning of more than 1,400 flight-test hours for the Boeing 777-300 commercial jetliner. The 777 wing uses the most aerodynamically efficient airfoil ever developed for subsonic commercial aviation. This advanced wing enhances the airplane's ability to climb quickly and cruise at higher altitudes than competing airplanes while achieving higher cruise speeds. It also allows the airplane to carry full passenger payloads out of many high-elevation, high-temperature airfields.
