Boeing-Developed Shutter Compass

This is a view of the Boeing-designed and Boeing-built shadow compass installed in a Flying Fortress. An instrument technician takes a reading from the compass, which is installed in the astrodome of the Fortress and is used to check variations on the airplane compass.
