First Flight Airborne Laser Platform

The first Airborne Laser flying platform -- Airplane 00-0001 -prepares for takeoff Jan. 6 from Everett Wash., on its first functional check flight. The 747-400 Freighter will travel to Wichita Jan. 22 to begin an 18-month modification effort.
