Boeing F2B-1s on USS Saratoga

The Boeing F2B-1 was a US Navy fighter aircraft that operated from the carrier Saratoga in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The aircraft was specifically designed for carrier operations using a welded tube fuselage, wooden frame wings and strengthened landing gear. First flight of the prototype F2B (Boeing Model 69) was on November 3, 1926. 33 production aircraft were delivered to the US Navy beginning in January 1928. An additional two, Model 69Bs, were exported to Brazil and Japan. The F2B was armed with two machine guns and had attachments on the lower wings and fuselage for up to five 25 pound bombs.
